Research Interests

Organic Synthesis, Physical Organic Chemistry, Reaction Mechanisms

(a) Development of new synthetic methods

- C-C and C-X bond formation via Michael addition, Diels-Alder reaction, 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition, Morita-Baylis-Hillman reaction etc

- New methods involving one pot multistep reactions, multicomponent reactions and atom economical reactions involving nitroalkenes

- Asymmetric reactions: asymmetric catalysis, ligand-metal and organocatalysts

- Synthetic applications of several reactive intermediates

(b) Synthesis of 'unnatural' products and novel materials with interesting properties

- Theoretically interesting molecules and intermediates: carbenes, strained alkenes and alkynes, nonclassical aromatic and antiaromatic systems

- Multi-functional bioactive molecules, high energy density (HED) materials

(c) Study of various reaction pathways

- Chemo-, regio- and stereodifferentiations in organic reactions
