Talk Title : “Electrochemical Reduction of CO2 to Value Products”.
Abstract
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a well-known greenhouse gas that has had a significant contribution to climate change. The transition of energy source from fossil fuels to renewables plays a major role in the reduction of carbon footprint. Using the carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2RR) it is the possible to alleviate the strain that CO2¬ has on the climate whilst creating green energy. In the electrochemical community it is well known that CO2 electrochemical reduction offers pathways to create highly sought after hydrocarbon fuels or precursors thereof using CO2 and H2O[1]. This talk will highlight the aspects of electrochemical CO2RR while discussing the possible mechanism, conditions and catalysts that could be used in a successful conversion to energy dense value fuels [2,3].
