Welcome to IHS2018

We welcome you to the 16th edition of the Chemistry In-House Symposium (IHS) to be held on 7th April in P. C. Saxena auditorium. The symposium highlights ongoing research activities in the department and provides a platform for exchange of ideas among research groups. Over the years the symposium has seen a phenomenal growth in the number of oral and poster presentations. In the recent years, the department has introduced student flash presentations to increase the student participation and involvement in the program. We look forward to your active participation in the symposium.

  Guidelines for oral/flash presentations

  • You will have a specific and short duration of time to deliver your research work
    • Oral presentation : 3 minutes (4-5 slides)
    • Flash poster presentation : 2 minutes (1 slide)
  • You cannot tell everything in a limited time therefore be selective.
  • Use a font size that is readable easily from the back of the auditorium.
  • Avoid having a lot of text on each slide: Use 5 or 6 lines per slide for clarity.
  • Use short, simple sentences, and concrete language .
  • For more attractive presentation use pictures, diagrams and cartoons, if possible.
  • Bulleted items on slides can contain key words to help you speak.
  • References should be used on each slide as applicable and not on a separate slide at the end.
  • Animations can be used to have content fitted within the number of slides.

Content Oral Presentation

  • Introduction - Use it to set the scene and provide a brief outline of your research work and problem.
  • Results - Description of the results and methods you have used.
  • Conclusion - The take home message i.e. main points of your presentation.

Do not forget acknowledge your co-authors
Practice your talk for yourself and with your colleagues to make sure it runs smoothly and you have time to include all aspects within time.

Content Flash Presentation

  • 1 slide highlighting the content of your posterr.
  • You should provide just enough information to your audience to make them come to your posteer.
  • Avoid telling your results, rather present your problem and the way you wish to tackle itt./li>

Posters should include a title, name and affiliation of the presenter(s).
Suggested size of poster 3 feet x 2 feet.
