Research Interest:

Our research group focuses on the design and development of multi-functional nanomaterials via non-covalent interactions in a concoction of soft matter entities like proteins, polymers, surfactants, nanoparticles, and liquid crystals. One of the underlying aim of our lab is to fabricate soft nano(bio)materials that find applications in variety of areas ranging from health to environment. Particularly, we adopt self-assembly as a methodology for the fabrication of different materials like bioactive liquid crystal droplets, protein-polymer surfactant based less-water solvents, self-standing enzymatic films for sensing, network of hollow tubules from stimuli responsive polyelectrolytes, nanoparticle-protein based enzymatic sponges, and nanostructured porous fluids. Our work is highly interdisciplinary in nature with problems encompassing (bio)physical chemistry, materials chemistry, chemical engineering and polymer physics related studies. We extensively utilize small angle X-ray and neutron scattering (SAXS-SANS), dynamic light scattering (DLS), various microscopy, and spectroscopy tools for characterizing these structures.
