Publishing research findings is an integral part of scientist's professional life, yet most scholarly journals are often perceived as black boxes. There are two main reasons for this perception: (1) lack of clarity in the publication process, (2) minimal editor-researcher interaction. Whereas we are in a constant process of improving the transparency, in this talk, I will mainly focus on providing editorial tips for bringing your research from the lab to a published article. Some of the questions I will address are: who we are, what we do, what we look for in a manuscript, how you (author) can expedite the process, quick tips for manuscript writing, and finally, open science if time permits.
