Talk Title : "Heterogeneous catalysts with molecular active sites for electrochemical and photocatalytic reactions".
Abstract
Souvik Roy completed his BSc from Presidency College, Kolkata, and MSc from University of Calcutta. He then moved to Arizona State University in the USA to pursue his PhD in bioinorganic chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Anne Jones. His doctoral work focused on designing bioinspired catalysts based on hydrogenases. After completion of PhD, Souvik took up a postdoctoral position at CEA Grenoble in 2014 to work with Dr Vincent Artero on molecular catalysis and artificial metalloenzymes. In 2016, He was awarded a two-year Wenner-Gren International Postdoctoral Fellowship to work on electrocatalytic metal-organic frameworks at Uppsala University in Prof. Sascha Ott’s group. He received a Marie-Curie Fellowship in 2018, allowing him to join Prof. Erwin Reisner’s group at University of Cambridge to work on hybrid photocatalysts and photocathodes for CO2 conversion. He started his independent career in April 2020, when he took up a lecturer (Asst. Prof.) position at University of Lincoln. His groups’ research lies at the interface of molecular and materials chemistry, focusing on developing new concepts and technologies for production of fuels and chemicals from abundant resources using surplus renewable electricity and solar energy.
