Seminar by Prof. M Eswaramoorthy on "Ni-Pd Bimetallic Catalysts for the Direct Synthesis of H2O2 - Unusual Enhancement of Pd Activity in Presence of Ni"
Abstract
In this talk the higher than normal activity of Pd in presence of a non-noble metal, Ni for the direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide from molecular H2 and O2 will be highlighted.4 The presence of non-noble metal, Ni, enhances the catalytic activity of Pd, three times in comparison to Pd alone. The catalyst shows high selectivity for H2O2 with maximum value of 95%. The catalyst, Ni0.1Pd0.9 is very stable in the harsh acidic reaction condition and retains its activity for more than 3 days.
